LMC Fines 7 Dog Owners for Lack of Dog Ownership License
Lucknow: 7 dog owners in Lucknow were fined for improper documentation during a surprise pet license checking campaign.
On Saturday, the animal welfare department of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) conducted a surprise pet license checking campaign and fined seven dog owners for not having dog ownership licenses. A total of INR 35,000 was collected from the violators.
The drive was led by LMC animal welfare officer Dr Abhinav Verma in Vijayant Khand, Vishal Khand and near Lohia park in Gomtinagar. The team collected fines when owners were found walking their dogs in public without a proper license.
The campaign faced resistance from pet owners who either locked their dogs indoors or debated with the team. Verma said, "The pet owners who fail to produce a licence can face fines up to Rs 5,000 and potential confiscation. The licences can be obtained online or at the municipal corporation headquarters, with fees varying for foreign and indigenous breeds. There is a significant decline in licences issued this year compared to previous years. The drive will be more intense in the coming days. To avoid any inconvenience, pet owners should comply with LMC regulations for keeping pets.
