Greater Noida Authority Introduces News Rules for Pets & Pet Owners

Noida: The Greater Noida Authority has introduced a new rule requiring all pet owners to register their pets. This updated policy was approved in a board meeting in June and is now a must for all residents with pets.

Under this policy, pet owners are also asked to use service elevators when they are with their pets. They can only use regular elevators if other residents don’t object. If someone raises a concern, pet owners are expected to wait and let others use the elevator first.

In case a pet bites or injures someone, the owner will be responsible for covering all medical expenses. The guidelines also mention a campaign for sterilizing and vaccinating dogs and cats to keep them healthy and safe.

Additionally, shelters for sick and stray animals will be set up through a partnership between public and private sectors. A toll-free number will also be made available for any pet-related emergencies.

Feeding areas for stray animals will be designated to ensure cleanliness and hygiene. The pet registration process is free of charge, but if owners fail to register, they could face a Rs 2,000 fine. It's important for pet owners to follow all the rules set by the authority.
