BMC Tells Pet Parents to Register Pets or Face Fines
Bhopal: Pet parents in Bhopal are being urged by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) to register their pets. According to the BMC, a paltry 5% of pets in Bhopal have been registered with the municipal corporation.
According to a press release, unregistered pets will be penalized with an INR 500 fine and the possibility of legal action against offenders. The registration charges are INR 150 for dogs and INR 50 for cats. Registrations are valid for one year and is enforced under the Madhya Pradesh Municipal Corporation "Registration and Control of Stray Animals" Rules 2023.
The BMC offers pet registration at several veterinary options across the city. These include the state veterinary hospital Jehangirabad, veterinary hospital Fatehgarh, Bairagarh veterinary hospital, Misrod veterinary hospital, veterinary dispensary Bairagarh Chichli, and the veterinary branch at Harshvardhan complex Mata Mandir.
The BMC urges pet owners to register their pets to avoid penalties, as these regulations aim to better manage the pet population of the city. Citizens can call 7000606599 or the Municipal Corporation call centre at 155304 for more information regarding the process.
