International Pet Flight Services from India to Oman

If you’re looking for a magical adventure in the desert, look no further than Oman. Known for a variety of contrasting landscapes and its delicious cuisine, you can be exploring the desert dunes in the north one moment, and be soaking in the southern waterfalls and clear waters the next. Oman is also known for its welcoming atmosphere and peaceful people, meaning it’s a serene environment to live in. If you’re someone migrating to the country for any reason, you may want to import your pet with you. There is a process and a list of prerequisites for international pet transportation to Oman. Let’s make the process clear to you.

Requirements for Pet Dog/Cat Travel into Oman

Microchip

Oman requires all pets to be microchipped. Your pet should be vaccinated either before or at the same time as their rabies vaccination. India uses the same ISO 11784/11785 compliant, 15-digit microchip for its pets as Oman. Make sure you have your pets microchip number on all their documents. This chip is read by a scanner by customs officials, through which they can confirm the identity of your pet.

Vaccination Record

Pets being exported to Oman must be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days before the date of travel. Other mandatory vaccines include:

  • Canine Parvovirus Vaccine
  • Canine Distemper Vaccine
  • Hepatitis Vaccine
  • Leptospirosis Vaccine

Import Permit

An import permit must be obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture before arrival. To obtain this permit, go follow these steps: ?

  • Fill in an application form.
  • Present required documents and certificates.
  • Check supplied documents and applications.
  • Pay fees (20 OMR).
  • Issue a health veterinarian license.

List of completed forms to be submitted to apply for the service:

  • Copy of the government health certificate (if any).
  • Copy of the imported animal’s vaccinations record.

Necessary documents required: ?

  • Application form
  • Copy of the government health certificate (if any).
  • Copy of the imported animal’s vaccinations record.

Submit these documents and pay the service fees to get an import permit for Oman.

International Export Health Certification

All pets being transported to Oman need an international health certificate issued by an official veterinarian of the exporting country. A health certificate is completed and issued by an authorized vet, which can then be verified by the necessary authorities. This certificate documents an alpha-numeric code, details of vaccination, and treatment against tapeworm. It is valid for ten days from the date of issue.

You will also need the following to obtain a no objection certificate (NOC) from the Animal Quarantine and Certification Services in India before flying. Make sure to make an appointment a week before visiting the office, and submit all these documents to the quarantine office along with your pet 7 days before travel to obtain an NOC. ?

  • The pet for examination by the officer.
  • Veterinary health certificate (Fit to Fly Certificate) from any local registered veterinarian.
  • Microchip certificate
  • Vaccination details of the last year of the pet.
  • Passport copies of the owner
  • Air ticket copy of the owner
  • Airway bill, if the pet is going through cargo
  • Any specific requirements of the importing country
  • Postcard size photographs (4 x 6 inch)

Internal and External Parasite Treatment

It is recommended for all pets traveling to Oman to administer preventive treatments against internal and external parasites shortly prior to travel by an authorized vet. Tapeworm treatment is advised and treatment must contain praziquantel or an equivalent proven to be effective against the Echinococcus multilocularis tapeworm. You must get this treatment done no more than 120 hours and no less than 24 hours before the scheduled time of entry in the country.

Entering Oman with Pets

Pets flying into the country can arrive as cabin and accompanied baggage or as manifested air cargo via Muscat airport.

Pet Quarantine

Your pet may be put into quarantine or returned to the exporting country if not accompanied with complete documentation, at the expense of the importer. Not only is this stressful for you and your pet, but the authorities may also have to keep them under quarantine until all paperwork is complete, which will add further cost to the process and further stress to your pet. It is best to make sure all documents are in order before traveling.

Pet Owner Passport, Plane Ticket, Copy of your Visa

Make sure to carry your original documents and a copy of each to ensure hassle free travel for you and your pet.

Pet Crate

Standard crate sizes should be used for your pet’s travel, with proper crate training provided to make your pet as comfortable as possible during travel. Paying attention to the prerequisites guarantees a safe and risk-free journey for your pet. Click here to learn everything you need to know about a pet crate and how to choose one.
